Birth is an experience that changes your life.

Birth Doula Support Package

A baby is coming - it’s so ordinary (people do this all the time!) and also so extraordinary (“I’m having an effing baby?!?”). No matter how you got to this place, you’re here now, expecting a baby - and you deserve an empowering birth. As a doula, I help you prepare for the possibilities that await you.

Pre-natal planning.

After our initial consult to see if we are a good fit, we will meet two times to cover basic childbirth education, possible interventions, and create a birth vision. I will also be in touch periodically through text, emails, and phone calls. During this time, I will get to know you and your partner so we can be a dream team in the birthing room!

Birth support.

Once you are in active labor, I will meet you at your birthing place (hospital, home, birth center, etc.) to offer hands on comfort measures, informed in decision making, and emotional support. The way I offer support varies depending on what you need! Some examples are: reminding you of your birth wishes, holding space for a peaceful environment, suggesting things for your partner to do, recording events in a timeline, and providing additional information about interventions being offered. I will stay with you for an hour after baby arrives to help you establish feeding and bonding.

Postpartum visit.

I’ll visit you a few days after birth to help you process the experience and check in with how things are going with your little one!

*Now Available* Scheduled C-Section Package

Belly Birth Mama’s - I’m here for you!

Doula support is often promoted as helping you avoid a surgical birth - but what if you’re already planning to birth this way? I’ve created this package just for you.

Pre-natal planning.

Let’s talk about how this birth will go! Walk me through what led you to scheduling a c-section, and let me know how you feel about it. Whether it is completely elective or unavoidable due to medical circumstances, we can process what it means to you. We can also explore your options - skin to skin in the OR? Clear drape? Music? I’ll help you decide what you want and discuss how you might evaluate these options with your provider. Since most hospitals do not allow doulas in the OR, I will help your partner understand how to best to support you from your bedside.

Birth support.

I’ll join you at the hospital at the time of your scheduled surgery (or earlier, should your baby need to come sooner.) With my support, you will better equipped to ask questions, make requests, and be an active participant in the birthing process. Most hospitals will not allow doula support in the OR (but we will continue to ask for it!), so after we part, I will meet you in recovery. I will stay with you until you are moved into Maternity, where you will stay until discharge.

Postpartum visits.

I can visit you in the hospital while you are there, or at home. We will talk about recovery, feeding baby, and how to manage other children if baby has big siblings. We can process the birth experience together, and I will leave you resources for further healing.

You have the option of 2 pre-natal visits and 1 postpartum, or 1 pre-natal and 2 postpartum visits.

No one should feel ostracized because of their experience.

I have three children, all born via cesarean. My first birth was extremely traumatic because of the medical circumstances, but also because I was unsure how to advocate for myself. For my subsequent births, I learned how to plan for various scenarios, interview providers, and follow my intuition to incorporate what was most important to my birthing experience. While I was unable to have my dream birth, each cesarean was less difficult than the previous; my last baby had the most beautiful surgical birth I could create.

While I walk with the grief of leaving my dream birth unfulfilled, I am dedicated to ensuring that no one feels ostracized because of their experience. Together we will plan for the birth you desire and navigate whatever comes up along the way. I’m here for you to dream, plan, and navigate this life changing experience.

Are we a good fit?

  • “You bring a warm and supportive presence during the life-changing time of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I felt safe and empowered with your presence at my son’s birth so that all of my energy could be used for birthing him.”

    -Sara, 2021

  • "Courtney helped me advocate for myself, which helped me feel more informed and in control of my experience. Much of it is a blur, which made the write-up she did of the experience that much more special!"

    -Rachel, 2022

  • "We are so happy that we had Courtney as our Doula during what turned out to be a very challenging birth experience. We delivered our baby girl unexpectedly at 29 weeks and Courtney's calm and thoughtful presence made this scary situation so much more manageable than it would have been without having her by our side...I felt like I had a plan even with so many unexpected and uncontrollable things happening around me."

    -Vanessa, 2023

  • "Having a doula is so priceless. This was our 3rd baby and even though we were experienced, my husband wanted to make sure we had a doula. He knew how important and supportive a doula was through labor. Courtney was so calming and knew how to help with the back labor pain. She communicated well and was very helpful. I love the detailed notes taken during the labor, and the write up afterwards was so beautiful."
